What is meta communication?

‍ ‍Meta communication, in practice, is a communication event mapping exercise. 75 years of social science research has taught us that when spend time thinking about & talking about how we are communicating, before & after the fact, we improve our communication in real time (Ruesch & Bateson, 1951).

Meta communication, when practiced regularly, improves relationships & strengthens connections, especially after a conflict (Abigail & Cahn, 2011).

Meta communication is open, honest, & objective information-seeking & prospective-taking. When we engage in immediate, thoughtful, & deliberate self-reflection, we learn to master self-regulation while learning to communicate more effectively with ourselves & with others (Werner, 2011).

Meta communication brings clarity. Clarity leads to better decision-making. And, let’s face it, we need to make good decision in order to thrive.

What is the 555 meta COMMunication method?

I developed the 555 meta COMM method because I wanted to find a quick & accurate way to train the brain to master specific communication skills.

5 minutes a day, 5 days per week, 5 weeks
